Legacy of the Dragonborn turns the abandoned Dragonborn Gallery in Solitude into a working museum. Recover artefacts from every vanilla quest, every DLC quest and dozens of new quest chains, then display them across ten themed halls. Ships with a curator, a safehouse, an airship, an armoury and a Relic Hunter storyline that ties Skyrim together.
Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition. Not compatible with Skyrim VR without the community patch. Console versions have a reduced port on Bethesda.net.

Legacy of the Dragonborn is the largest single mod ever released for Skyrim. At its core it turns the abandoned Dragonborn Gallery in Solitude into a functioning museum: every artefact from the vanilla campaign, every DLC quest, and hundreds of new items you cannot get anywhere else can be recovered, identified by the museum curator, and placed on display in one of ten themed halls. The Hall of Lost Empires stages Dwemer and First Era dioramas, the Hall of Heroes tracks your relationships with named companions, the Hall of Oddities holds unique quest rewards.
The mod is not a static museum. It ships with the Relic Hunter storyline, an original questline that leads you through every major faction and DLC region to rebuild eleven legendary relics including a functional Dragonbane and Wraithguard. It adds Auryen Morellus, a fully voiced Altmer curator, the Dev Aveza airship, an armoury with sortable racks, a Safehouse basement under the museum, the Airship Expansion, the Shattered Legacy story, and integration patches for more than 250 other mods including Beyond Skyrim, Falskaar, and Wyrmstooth.

Legacy of the Dragonborn is maintained across every current Skyrim runtime. Match your Skyrim executable version (Options ⇢ Advanced ⇢ Windowed to see it in-game, or check the SKSE64 startup log) to the row below. The version 6 branch supports both current SE and AE. The version 19 branch is the last release for classic Legendary Edition and is no longer receiving feature updates.

Chapter IV
How to install Legacy of the Dragonborn
- I
Confirm your Skyrim runtime version. Launch Skyrim once, open Options and note the version, or read the SKSE64 loader console. AE-only mods will not load on 1.5.97 SE and vice versa.

Install SKSE64 for your runtime from silverlock.org. Extract src, Data and the two .exe files into your Skyrim installation folder and launch through skse64_loader.exe going forward.

Install the dependencies in order via Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex: SkyUI, Address Library for SKSE Plugins, PapyrusUtil, Fuz Ro Doh, and JContainers SE.

Download the main Legacy of the Dragonborn 6.x file from the Nexus Mods page, plus the patches file matching the exact set of DLC and mods you run. Do not skip the patches archive.

Enable the plugins in your load order after all master files, place patches near the end, run LOOT once, then launch through SKSE64. Start a new save. Legacy is not save-safe on a mid-playthrough install.

Chapter VI
The Relic Hunter storyline
Relic Hunter is the mod's flagship questline. It starts the first time you enter the Dragonborn Gallery and meet Auryen. Over roughly twenty hours it sends you across every major faction hall, every DLC region, and several new dungeons to recover the fragments of eleven legendary relics: Dragonbane, Chrysamere, Goldbrand, Bloodthirst, Umbra, Wraithguard, Sunder, Keening, Volendrung (variant), Auriel's Bow (upgrade), and the Bloodskaal Blade.
Every rebuilt relic has enhanced stats and a unique enchantment tied to the artefact's lore. Completing all eleven unlocks the Shattered Legacy questline, a Second Era conspiracy plot that culminates in the Karagas dragon fight and the museum's Second Era wing.

Is Legacy of the Dragonborn save-safe?

No. Legacy is not safe to install on an existing save. Start a fresh character. Uninstalling mid-playthrough will corrupt the save because of the mod's deep quest and script hooks.
Does it work on Skyrim VR?

With the Legacy of the Dragonborn VR patch (Nexus Mods, community-maintained), yes. Without the patch expect broken menus, missing displays and script errors.
Do I need every patch?

Only the patches for mods you actually run. The patches archive is organised per mod. Installing every patch will produce plugin conflicts even LOOT cannot resolve.
Which version should I use, v6 or v19?

v6 for Special Edition and Anniversary Edition. v19 is the final classic Legendary Edition release, feature-frozen but stable. New players should be on SSE + v6.
Is Legacy of the Dragonborn on Bethesda.net for consoles?

A reduced console port exists on Bethesda.net for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Roughly 40% of the PC content ships due to file-size caps. The Airship, Safehouse and Relic Hunter quest are included.
Who is Auryen Morellus?

Auryen is the Altmer museum curator, added by the mod. He identifies artefacts you bring in, hands out quest hooks, and manages the Explorer's Society sub-faction that leads the Relic Hunter storyline.
